FAQ's
Paint correction is the process of removing surface imperfections and blemishes from a vehicle’s paintwork, such as swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, and etching. It involves the use of abrasive polishes, compounds, and a variety of polishing pads and machines to level the paint surface, thereby enhancing the gloss and clarity of the paint.
While waxing or applying a polish can temporarily enhance the shine and provide a protective layer, paint correction specifically targets and removes imperfections from the paint’s surface. Waxing and polishing can sometimes fill in or mask these blemishes temporarily, but paint correction aims to physically remove them for a more lasting improvement.
The cost of paint correction can vary widely depending on the vehicle size, the paint condition, the level of correction desired, and the professional’s experience. Prices can range from a few hundred dollars for a single stage correction on a small car to several thousand for a comprehensive multi-stage correction on a larger or more premium vehicle.
The time required for paint correction can vary significantly depending on the vehicle’s size, the condition of the paint, and the desired level of correction. A thorough job can take anywhere from a few hours for a single stage correction to multiple days for a multi-stage correction.
After paint correction, it’s crucial to protect the newly refined surface with a quality sealant, wax, or a ceramic coating to help preserve the finish and protect against future blemishes. Regular maintenance, including proper washing techniques and avoiding harsh environmental conditions, will also help maintain the appearance.
